Flight Journals: Day 4 & 5

So, I'm writing this one from jail. I found a few scraps of paper here under the bed, and a few people seem to have left notes for each other, but I took a couple of the blank ones to write down everything. I'm going to be stuck in here for over a day, so I figure I have time...

So... where do I start?

I've been doing a lot of cooking lately... I spent a bit trying to figure out a recipe for the Cheesecake we all nabbed from that tavern outside of town, and I finally got it figured out, but it requires apples to make the Syrup and it takes SO LONG to find those. I was barely able to make one before heading into town since I had heard that some of the townsfolk returned - the market was finally open again and people were trading a bunch of different supplies for gems!

I grabbed a bunch of wheat from the kitchen to trade in, and while I was just basically throwing it all at the traders (I think they lost count? I think I have too many gems) Graecie jumpscared me! We spent a bit of time running around town before heading to the other world to get some resources. You see, we figured out how to make a bunch of new decorations for our dorms! That led to me, Graecie, Sausage, and Zam heading into the other world on a bit of an adventure, and I was able to make us all compasses so we wouldn't lose each other. We were eventually able to find a ton of the giant flowers for dyes, but not before Sausage almost was really hurt. Thankfully the magic pulled him back to the dorms.

Later that night, it was just me and Graecie running around and doing some studying in the library. I think we're both focusing on either learning about either magic or cooking - I just watched her speed through a couple different books on baking all while humming along. Eventually, I figured out a ritual that would let you reduce the calories you burn when running... we both did that and I feel like we can go much further between meals now!

We were going to work on a few other rituals, but the teacher was all out of feathers! After looking around a lot we had the idea to potentially try to hatch the eggs from the kitchen, and we were able to hatch a few inside one of the internal courtyards of the castle. I chiseled through a little hatch in one of the walls by the infirmary and we were able to get a bunch of chickens growing there overnight. We also had a few others hanging out in one of the graveyards outside of the Academy. Chickens in a graveyard - morbid I know, but we needed the supplies!

Okay, here's where things get crazy. I had just finished standing with the chickens when Graecie and Sausage started running at me yelling. They had apparently just seen me, but I wasn't there, and we were all really confused. We caught them again, and after everything that had happened to me back in Thistle Hill... I kind of freaked out. The guards came running for us, and eventually took Graecie, Sausage, and me up to see the professor.

We all kind of rambled about what we'd seen, and I think they didn't like what they were hearing when I said they should have warned us about ghosts or mimics or something - they... kind of breathed fire at me and singed my hair a bit. Thankfully I think our magic makes us a tiny bit fireproof? At least, we did better than everyone on the first day...

They sent us out with the guards to try to prove what we saw, which was... how do we PROVE we saw something?! We ran into a whole other group of students and then me, I mean the mimic, just WALKED around the corner at me! I just kind of ran screaming, the others told me that they tried to capture them, but the mimic got away...

My head started to hurt, and the room was spinning. I think it was mainly because I was panicking. Then one of the guards had us both talk about our magics, and of course Graecie thinks she's only gotten her magic from the Shepardess, and not her dragon. I told them everything, but they took my knives, and Graecie's bells - and then they were just... not going to give it back? Eventually they dropped it, but just kept staring at me...

I went running for Graecie right away, but I lost track of her, and I saw ME walk back ground the corner again... and then they turned back into A GUARD!!!! I tried... I tried so hard to just hold a knife up hoping they wouldn't notice my hand shaking, but they started to copy my voice and I just ran again.

There was... a lot of screaming and running around, and they apparently cornered Graecie in the dueling arena and tried to hurt them, and I kind of snapped. I saw them running out of the dueling class wearing armor and I just kind of... reached for them. They had iron on, and I felt like I could feel their armor from far away, and I was able to pull them up into the air. My ears were ringing and my vision went double (even more so than just seeing myself) but they disappeared right after I lost control of the spell.

It took a bit to kind of.... be okay after that. The others helped me figure out that it's not like I can just grab PEOPLE... but if they're wearing enough metal I can grab onto that. It needs to be iron, specifically, but I think if I keep practicing I might be able to get better at it. It's just like... I need a lot of something magnetic to grab onto right now, like I can't generate the force I need to do anything more expansive.

After that we went exploring around into the other areas of the dorms, and found out how to use this one spell to play hide and seek! Zam is super good at it, maybe because she already naturally hides from everyone, but she won basically every game that we played. Finally had a chance to meet a few of the other members of the dorm who played along, but after a bit we all started to get tired and were able to call it a night.

I had just said goodbye to the others and was heading back to my room when Sun Guard, at least that's what Graecie calls them, was waiting for me. They asked me about the chickens, and seemed upset that I was using Academy grounds in a way that they didn't like - so they threw me in jail. I think they're going to leave me down here for a while, the timer said more than a day when I first went into the room.

Wait... I think I hear some bells...

OH! They're here!!
