Flight Journals: Day 2

I learned magic today.

That's two days in a row that I've opened these entries with impossible statements, but everything is feeling far more possible with every passing day.

Something woke up inside me, when I was in the lavender fields with Graecie, but I realized why the knives I've been smuggling out of the kitchens feel so different to the ones from home. It's not them - it's me. Something's changed in me, and I can control magnetism and metals.

It's... disorienting, honestly. Everyone seems to be figuring out all sorts of magical abilities since we bonded with the dragons a few days ago. Even though the eggs haven't hatched, something's changed about all of us. Some people have been able to summon snakes, or fire, or stars (AND ARE APPARENTLY FROM MARS?). Everyone seems to be changed from the first bonding, and I don't know what else will happen as we figure out how to hatch these eggs.

We figured it out, by the way, well... Graecie and Sausage and Bubbles figured it out. I was passed out after my late night adventure into the resource world, and they showed me a second, and then a THIRD level to the library! There's EVEN MORE books down there that I'll have to get copies of. I'm dedicated to reading as many of them as I can between training and whatever classes we're going to end up having in this chaotic place.

But... Magnesis. I feel like I can control the metals around me. First thing that came to mind was just spinning those knives I've been grabbing from the kitchen to form a bit of a shield. I'm not going to lie... this place TERRIFIES me, so some sort of defense, with a little offence, will probably help keep me alive long enough to figure out what else I can do with this.

I feel... terrible. Once I figured it out Graecie ran straight at me thinking I was in trouble and I cut her... I kept apologizing, the red looked horrible from the little cut, but she was able to heal SO FAST - maybe that's her magic? She only showed that massive sparkly ball but I don't know if she's gotten some other blessings or spells. Once the blades went away she gave me the biggest hug, and was apologizing to me for some reason, but I was just trying to apologize to her instead.

I met a few other members of the dorm too. Water seems.... a bit prickly, and there's his sister (at least I think it's his sister) and the other one with the mask who hasn't even spoken to me at all. Feels like not everyone in our dorm is the friendliest (not counting Bubbles and Graecie of course), but at least there's a ton of nice people around the castle and we're not letting these dorms split us up. Zam seems nice, I feel bad that I called them a Martian when they aren't. I've never met someone from another planet before. Going to find them something purple to try to apologize.

I've been collecting supplies from the other world as well as around the castle - but I think I'm going to need to sneak over to the Capitol soon for some of the rarer things on my list. I still have no idea where Olsted sourced all of his finer parts from, but I'm going to have to get some of my own supplies to experiment further with whatever this new magic can actually do.

I think I'll head to the library and do some late night studying.
