Flight Journals Day 14-16
I was going to head over towards the Dragon Crypts with sausage the other day, but he was asleep in his room. After walking around in the library for a bit I actually ran into Sniff Juniper and the two of us walked over together. Inside, it was so... I don't really have the word, and I know it's a pun, but... magnetic-

- I think we have a plan. I have the magic, they have the knowledge, we both have our Dragons. Gadget seemed a little nervous when we were standing there talking, I could feel him sort of curling around my ankles at the mention of all of this, but I tried my best to stand up tall enough for both of us.
On the way back we ran into some of the others. Drift, Shelby, Meggi, and Elaina were all heading into town, and I could tell Sniff wanted to go, but was so nervous. I think I can tell why too, I feel the same way sometimes, but I tried to encourage her to go along with everyone else. I was able to recall back and take a LONG HOT shower. A few days away from the amenities of the school and I don't think I'm ever going to be able to recover. Hot running water, inside, is just... amazing. I'm either going to never leave here, or have to replicate it on my own after that time comes.
It was a few days later when we all got together again.
Turns out, there's a secret garden behind the hearth in the kitchen! That's probably where all of the food had been coming from, but someone had done something horrible in there. Meggi was able to connect to the roots and see some flashes of what happened inside the garden, but then she couldn't move. At first Graecie and Zam just tried to pull her out, but she couldn't get out, and she wasn't warning Iron, so I couldn't grab her. She started to scream as it was hurting and I just... panicked, and I spun the wheel.
The magic receded right away, but it... well it scared everyone. I mean, why wouldn't it, right? We've learned so much about it since that it was just stupid to reveal it at all but I panicked and I was worried and I just.... well I just tried talking to them.
We headed off to a small and secluded part of the library, and I told them about the crypts. About going with Juniper, about my new spell, about the iron in the mountain... About everything that happened INSIDE there. It was... a lot. They didn't seem scared, at least if they were they were doing a really good job of hiding it, except for Meggi. Her roots told her I was dangerous. They're probably right, but I'm not going to hurt anyone.
It was a relief, them not being afraid. I mean eventually some mage doing something bad would need to be stopped, right, and me turning off their magic could change everything - but I don't know... I felt a little bit of concern in Graecie's voice. We haven't had a moment along since I told her about the spies, and after this, and her working so hard to take care of everyone, I'm worried she's going to burn herself out, or worse, that exhaustion will make something I do look really stupid or dangerous.
The good news is we found a book about a new ritual, a fun one this time. It was all about cheese. I promised the others I wouldn't make a copy of the contents, and I won't, not even here, but it was... well the Professor thought that it would be good for us to do something fun, and after everything we'd been through over the past couple weeks, and me the last couple days especially... seeing the smiles on their faces meant the world.
They were both so happy, I hadn't seen Graecie hop like that since maybe the first or second day here, and Zam's eyes were practically glowing... or maybe they were ACTUALLY glowing. I wanted to ask but I'm not sure if it's rude to mention a Stella's eyes glowing. Maybe one day when I'm a little braver.
It was everything I could have asked for, genuinely. Seeing them happy meant so much.
Even better was us taking over the last Feles dorm room to make Zam her own kitchen. This one should be safe, we'll all be around to keep an eye on it - plus it can give her access to a lot more ingredients than what the Academy was already offering.
I'm probably going to miss the Dragon Tournament party... I have research to do on the Iron Wheel. There's so much more I still need to figure out.
